A Message from the Festival About COVID-19

The Plague was the single most powerful force shaping [Shakespeare’s] life and those of his contemporaries.” During times of quarantine, Shakespeare wrote some of his most important sonnets and plays.

Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in our area, it was determined that even limited-number gatherings would not be recommended at this time.

The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival’s annual Shakespeare by the Sea has been a summer staple for the past twenty-nine consecutive years. Approaching its 30th anniversary production this July, the Festival has announced “the show will go on” via its new Sharing Shakespeare program, sponsored by a grant from PNC ArtsAlive with additional support from generous donors. The professional, videotaped performance of William Shakespeare’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM will be available online in August via the Festival’s website.
